Senior Night

Game 16: 8 May on Senior Night vs. Bishop Miege (5-0)

You could tell during pregame we were excited to play tonight.  Sometimes Senior Nights go just the opposite, but not tonight.

We wanted to get on the board early. Check. We wanted to create some STA balls. Check. We wanted to score on a corner kick. Check.

And 3 of the 5 goals we cashed were scored by seniors.  I don't believe the defense gave up a shot all night.  We slowed our stats down considerably early in the second half; Miege probably had something to do with that. But overall, good effort to end the regular season.

BWhite named senior Katelyn Heying the BWhite Player of the Match. She scored. She assisted. Her pace has really helped our attack lately. It is fun to see her game start to light it up as we head into postseason—as we are going to need it.

I love the soccer that Miege is playing; they move the ball so well with lots of possession.  I have to think we see a final of Maize South and Bishop Miege in 4A, and it should be quite a match.

Tonight was special with all 7 seniors in the starting lineup (Chyna did have to exit after the kickoff, but still) and with them getting us off to a quick 2-goal lead.  We couldn't ask for much more than that.

And as I said at the senior reception (way to go Mrs. Kimball and the freshman parents as that reception was awesome—can you say Toco Bar) this class is a special one for me.  I just think they are so positive not only with one another but with the rest of the team.  That spirit they help create makes girls' soccer season so enjoyable.  And that chemistry is one of the key reasons we have been successful.

So thank you Katelyn, Caroline, Brigid, Itsy, Anna, Hania and Chyna.
