Regional Finals

Game 18 at STA in Regional Finals vs. Mill Valley (4-0)

Well, we got our rematch, taking advantage of those rare opportunities when we get to play against a team who had beaten us during regular season.

And the shot totals might have mirrored the first match, but our opportunities were glaringly better in this one.  Our girls came out of the locker room with some attitude and that approach translated into one of our better matches.

BWhite acknowledge Hallie Klanke as the BWhite Player of the Match. And my she was in other-planet mode. Hallie was everything that makes her such a special player—her speed on display, her ability to score from distance with those remarkable chips, and her ability to attack the baseline with such precision that she gives others great opportunities to score. She create 5 corners is just the first half—5!

But B wanted to make sure that the defense got a big-time shoutout as well, as they shutdown everything.  Mill Valley may have scraped up a couple of shots during the match, but they create zilch that was dangerous.  So Kelley and Moss and Linder and Romme and Crow–wow! (with Ramaekers and Raunig getting minutes as well in the back.)

Overall though, we just created so much during that first half. Hallie, yes, created 5 corners, but we created 10 as a team.  No, we did not score (well, maybe we did—watch this!). We also just blew up the baseline crossing balls—no, our framing was not great, but we were dangerous, and this danger occurred against a very fine defensive team. Despite giving up 4 goals, Mill Valley's keep made quite a few nice saves again against us.

We got a break in the other games as well as both the 1 & the 2 seed went down, eliminating the anticipated match against BV Southwest. If we see them now, it will be in the Sate Finals.

So let's get to a 14th straight final four!
